For Dune: Prophecy, I designed a series of props — vases, glass vessels, and an incense burner—each echoing the quiet opulence of the Empress’s private chambers.
The forms draw from Middle Eastern art traditions: intricate geometry, subtle asymmetry, and the interplay of light through colored glass. These cultural parallels felt natural within the Dune universe, where ancient aesthetics often shape futuristic worlds.
The goal was to evoke reverence and restraint— objects that feel sacred, yet lived-in. A visual language of power, memory, and ritual.
Interestingly, the initial concept for incense burning appears in other artists’ lamp designs for the throne room. It’s a beautiful continuity across the visual language of the world.
